The aim of each course (Grades 1 – 8 and Diploma respectively) is to develop and maximize the musical potential of each individual. Although the objective is to take part in the music exam every end of year (around December), it is strongly encouraged that students, tutors and parents come with an open-mind to facilitate an efficient bi-educational process.
Students
Chinese Instrumental Class accepts everyone who has strong passion in Chinese music and an ardent urge to learn! There are no age restrictions.

This provides greater ease and flexibility for those who wish to join our classes. Registration forms can be obtained at NUS Centre For the Arts (Runme Shaw CFA Studios), or requested through email at yuhui@nus.edu.sg / cfalxya@nus.edu.sg.
Lesson Structure
Lessons will be conducted every week unless otherwise announced by the management or tutors. Lessons are scheduled at 45 minutes (Grade 1 – 6) or 1 hour (Grade 7 – 8 and Diploma) per lesson. There will be no lessons if the day falls on a public holiday. Full attendance is strongly encouraged. Upon confirmation of a class, students would receive a calendar, which indicates the dates for on-going classes, public holidays, no classes and for make-up classes. Classes will follow strictly in accordance to the calendar. There will be no music classes in December during the Chinese Instrumental Examination period.
Syllabus and Scores
Tutors would advice and recommend the books according to the syllabus and their teaching experience. Instances where students can excel beyond the stated syllabus will be highly encouraged to explore their creative boundaries. In addition to examination, students will be recommended to perform solo or as an ensemble during annual concerts.
