Tan Ean Kiam Arts Awards
Sponsored by the Tan Ean Kiam Foundation, this is NUS' first arts awards platform, recognizing student talents, and discipline in the areas of the arts and arts management.
Inaugurated in 2009, the Foundation's five-year gift honours the best of NUS Centre For the Arts (CFA)'s 22 arts groups, comprising students and alumni who have excelled artistically and contributed significantly to CFA, NUS and the community. The four Award categories are Alumni, Student of the Year, Group of the Year, and Event of the Year.
The Tan Ean Kiam Foundation was set up in 1956 by Mr Tan Ean Kiam, a man of humble beginnings who rose to become a leading businessman in Singapore during the early 1900s and donated to numerous welfare projects and schools, promoting education of all kinds to develop leaders for the nation.
Under the current leadership of Mr Tan Ean Kiam's grandson, Mr Tan Keng Soon, the Foundation's belief in grooming youths into tomorrow's leaders as well as fostering meaningful relationships with the community continues. The Foundation's support will provide a boost to the arts on campus, furthering the artistic development of the awardees, as well as strengthening the arts as a pillar in the NUS community and enhancing student life as a rich experience in NUS's holistic education.
