How to Participate

Outline of the Competition

1. You may choose to express your thoughts on the topic "Ideas of a University" through one of the following:

  • A Poem
  • A One-Act Play
  • A Short Story
  • An Essay

2. You may write in any of the four official languages: English, Chinese, Malay, Tamil.

3. You may provide an English translation (optional).

4. Word limit:

  • One-Act Play: Upper limit 5000 words
  • Short Story: Upper limit 5000 words
  • Essay: Upper limit 2000 words

 

Rules & Regulations

1. The competition is open to:

  • Junior College/Polytechnic students
  • Undergraduates/Graduate students studying in Singapore
  • NUS alumni

2. Each competitor is allowed to submit only ONE entry.

3. The entry must:

  • be typed in size 12 font
  • be double spaced
  • have page numbers
  • have your NRIC/passport number. Please do NOT write your name on your entry.

4. The entry must be submitted in TWO HARD COPIES together with the official entry form to:

5. Closing date for entries: 31 October 2005.

6. NUS employees, lecturers, professional authors, e.g. journalists, are not eligible to participate in this competition.
