  • Changes in tutorial groups may be made during the online registration period; any changes thereafter are subject to availability. Changes will not be entertained after classes begin.

  • Students are not allowed to take two GEC modules concurrently.

ES5001B classes begin

Times and locations of tutorials will be announced when students register online.

Please note:

  • ES5001B is an elective course for students from faculties other than Arts & Social Sciences and the School of Medicine and for those Arts and Social Sciences students not required to take the course.

  • Students from the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences and the School of Medicine who are required by their Faculty/School to take ES5001B must take it before taking ES5001A. Any of these students who are required to take the Basic Level course and ES5001B will begin with ES5000 and then take ES5001B before proceeding to ES5001A, if required to take ES5001A.

  • Students (other than Arts & Social Sciences and School of Medicine students required to take ES5001B) who are required to take ES5001A may take ES5001B before ES5001A if they prefer to work on Speaking & Listening first, as long as they realise they must complete ES5001A during their candidacy and will have enough time to do so.

  • Students are not allowed to take two GEC modules concurrently.

Students will be notified of times and venues of tutorials by email.

Please note:

  • PhD candidates generally take ES5002 in the fourth year of their candidature. CELC reserves the right to defer any student who provides inaccurate information in his/her registration form.

  • DO NOT call or send email messages to CELC to ask about the outcome of your registration. Please look out for the email notification which will be sent on Tuesday 8 January 2013 to inform all registrants whether they have been assigned a place for the second semester AY 2012/13.

  • Any student who has been assigned a place to read ES5002 in the second semester AY 2012/13 but decides to defer (i.e. take the course in a later semester) must inform the Course Coordinator (Dr Chitra Varaprasad, elcvarap@nus.edu.sg) by 6pm on  Wednesday  9 January 2013

Please note:

  • ES5101 is a compulsory English module for all Electrical & Computer Engineering M.Eng and PhD students from the August 2011 intake.
  • Students who are required to take the Graduate English Course must complete ES5000 (if required) and ES5001A before proceeding to ES5101.
  • Students are encouraged to take this module in their 3rd semester.
