AR3421 - Introduction to Architectural Practice (Embedded)


Description


In this module, students will gain basic knowledge on architectural practices in the framework of Singapore construction industry.  The CELC component embedded in this module adopts a blended and flipped classroom approach and comprises pre-lecture activities, 2 lectures and 2 tutorials.  This component aims to highlight the relevance and importance of oral communication skills in this professional context.  The objectives are to help students understand and appreciate the complex nature of oral communication in the 21st century workplace so that they are motivated to hone these life skills.  Effective oral communication strategies are covered, especially in the context of giving and receiving feedback, and also in planning and delivering oral presentations.  Students are given hands-on practice and assessed. The assignment for this component has a 20% weightage in the module.
