To sit for the DET in January 2010, students must register during the registration dates
above; if they fail to do so, they may register
in July 2010 for the August 2010 DET..

Students must note the following DET procedure:
| (a) |
Each student will be given a seat number in a particular venue.
Students should check the CELC website
http://www.nus.edu.sg/celc/ for their venue and seat number after 4pm on Monday 4 January 2010.

| (b) |
They should print out their registration form containing their seat number and bring it to the examination room. |
| (c) |
Students will be admitted to the examination room ten to fifteen minutes before the start of the examination. |
| (d) |
They must present their student registration cards or passport for identification purposes. |

Notes:
- Students who are unable to register for ES5000 or ES5001A in January 2010 can register in August 2010 and take ES5000/ES5001A in the First Semester, AY 2010/2010.
- Changes in tutorial groups may be made during the online registration period; any changes thereafter are subject to availability. Changes will not be entertained after classes begin on Monday 18 January 2010
- Students are not allowed to take two GEC modules concurrently.

NOTE:
- Students from the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences who are required by their faculty to take ES5001B must take it before taking ES5001A. FASS students who are required to take the Basic Level course and ES5001B will begin with ES5000 and then take ES5001B before proceeding to ES5001A. This is required by the faculty.
- ES5001B is an elective course for students from faculties other than Arts & Social Sciences and for those Arts and Social Sciences students not required to take the course.
- Students (other than Arts & Social Sciences students required to take ES5001B) who are required to take ES5001A may take ES5001B before ES5001A if they prefer to work on Speaking & Listening first, as long as they realise they must complete ES5001A during their candidacy and will have enough time to do so.
- Students unable to register for ES5001B in
January 2010 can register in August 2010 and take ES5001B in the
First Semester, AY 2010/2011.
- Students are not allowed to take two GEC modules concurrently.

ES5002 Tutorial Registration -
1 December 2009 to 3 January 2010
1. Classes for the ES5002 module for the Second Semester AY2009/10 start on Monday, 18 January 2010
2. PhD candidates generally take ES5002 in the fourth year of their candidature. CELC reserves the right to defer any student who provides inaccurate information in his/her registration form.
3. DO NOT call or send email messages to CELC to ask about the
outcome of your registration. Please look out for the email notification which will be sent on 12 January 2010 (Tuesday) to inform all registrants whether they have been assigned a place for the Second Semester AY2009/10.
4. Any student who has been assigned a place to read ES5002 in the Second Semester AY 2009/10 but decides to defer (i.e., take the course in a later semester) must inform the Course Coordinator [Dr Deng Xudong; email address:
elcdxd@nus.edu.sg ] by Thursday, 14 January 2010.
