You will assist NUS departments providing housing services, managing sports facilities, retail & dining services, libraries and other Workplaces in NUS to implement safety programmes such as contractor safety management, office safety and facilities safety. You will conduct risk assessment reviews, safety training, contractor management, inspections and audits.

Requirements:

• Degree in Engineering or science
• At least 2 years’ of safety and health related working experience in construction and or/facilities management
• Relevant qualifications in WSH such as Registered WSH officer, FSM, etc
• Knowledge and experience in WSH legislative requirements, in particular for research and educational based institutions
• Effective communication and writing skills, with attention to details
• Able to multi-task and posses strong people skills
• Passionate about working with diverse stakeholders – students, staff and contractors
• Qualifications such as Workplace Safety Officer, OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor, RBP, CBSP or equivalent would be an added advantage
• Outgoing personality, approachable and helpful

You will be responsible for the implementation of workplace safety and health (WSH) management systems for NUS Departments dealing with life science research. You will be working with world class scientists, advising and facilitating them in achieving their research and teaching goals. You therefore should have a strong foundation in microbiology, biochemistry or other disciplines of life science. Your duties would include conducting risk assessment reviews, safety training, inspections and audits.

You should have the following:

• Postgraduate qualifications in Life Sciences
• At least 3 years’ experience in developing and implementing WSH management system and programs for research or teaching laboratories
• Knowledge and experience in legislative requirements for WSH, in particular for research and educational based institutions
• Qualifications such as Workplace Safety Officer, OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor, RBP, CBSP or equivalent would be an added advantage
• Effective communication and technical writing skills, with attention to details
• Able to multi-task and possess strong people skills

You will be responsible for the implementation of NUS Animal Biosafety Programme. You will conduct safety related training, risk assessment review and inspections of animal facilities. You will also provide advisory service to staff and students on general workplace safety issues.

You should have the following:

• Honours degree in Life Science or Physical/Natural Sciences
• At least 3 years’ experience working in animal research facilities or conducting animal related research
