Patent Examiner / Officer Dean's Office, School of Computing (SoC)

Your responsibilities will include the following:
  • Carry out search through prior patents and technical literature and examine patent applications to meet criteria for patentability, e.g. novelty, inventiveness and industrial applicability
  • Executing patent applications in the field of Information & Technology
  • Provide advice and assistance to faculty members on patent applications and matters related to IP
  • Manage international engagement and co-operation with key international and local organizations and IP offices on IP-related matter
  • To provide copy-editing to the academic staff and management of the School in areas such as:
    * Academic papers due for submission to conferences/journals
    * Official school publications

Requirements:

  • A good Honours Science or Engineering degree. A postgraduate degree will be an added advantage
  • Experience in legal environments and/or copy editing would be helpful
  • At least 3 years' working experience in related fields and with a good track record in administrating and coordinating the whole process of patent application
  • Possesses skills in drafting policy and research papers and also experience in dealing with local and/or foreign governmental agencies
  • Fluent in English, and good interpersonal, communication and writing skills

Laboratory Executive Dean's Office, School of Computing (SoC)

You will provide a consistent and sustainable support to teaching activities and teaching administration by developing, implementing and maintaining relevant software systems so as to increase teaching effectiveness and teaching administration productivity.

Your responsibilities will include the following:
  • Design and implement lab experiments for modules taught in SoC
  • Explore and familiarize with new teaching tools and instructional technologies
  • Conduct lab sessions and supervise student projects when required
  • Conduct systems analysis (e.g. SDLC) by converting requirements into useful applications or services
  • Design, develop, implement, deploy and maintain systems/applications with Perl, PHP, SQL/MySQL, HTML, Javascript, other web-based and non-web-based technologies
  • Handle and interact with users of all levels, especially teaching staff and students
  • Conduct automatic tests, UAT, load tests, training and knowledge transfer
  • Comply with documentation standards
  • Support non-teaching requirements by getting involved in technical, system administration and operations when required

Requirements:

  • A good and relevant university degree
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to program well and self-motivated to pick up new technical skills and details
  • A team player who is comfortable in handling and interacting with colleagues and users of all levels
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Enjoys teaching, developing applications and conducting systems analysis by converting teaching, technical or business requirements into useful applications and services
  • Technically and academically inclined and familiar with Unix, Windows, Perl, PHP, SQL/MySQL, HTML, Javascript, other web-based and non-web-based technologies
  • Strong understanding of fundamental principles in networking, IT security, software engineering, computer gaming, operating systems, parallel and distributed computing, ERP and other CS and IS areas of specialization

Executive Centre for Health Informatics (CHI)

You will provide administrative, logistics and marketing support for the operations of the new Centre for Health Informatics (CHI) at the School of Computing, NUS.

Your responsibilities will include the following:
  • To assist the manager in online marketing activities such as designing and sending EDMs, creation, development and updating of websites and web applications development
  • To assist in the operations of the Centre including the administrative, logistics, procurement and finance aspects
  • To assist in activities of the Centre such as courses, exhibitions, conference and workshops/seminars
  • To coordinate meetings, take minutes and undertake other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Requirements:

  • Diploma level or above
  • Minimum 3 years working experience
  • Possess good organizational, interpersonal, writing and communication skills
  • Strong planning, logistics and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in Joomla would be an advantage
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Responsible, meticulous, motivated and able to multi-task and meet deadlines
