Executive, Outreach Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI)

You will assist to develop and execute outreach activities as well as marketing plans primarily supporting CSI Singapore's branding & public image to foster the best possible public image for the institute.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Develop, plan and organise outreach activities in order to increase the profile of the institute within the local as well as international scientific community
(i) internal research meetings
(ii) local scientific conferences and seminars
(iii) educational programmes for undergraduates, JCs, polytechnics & schools
(iv) international scientific meetings
(v) local or international charitable, fund-raising or profile-raising events

2. Develop plans to promote the institute, its latest research and breakthroughs to the press and public
(i) Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with representatives of community, consumer, employee, and public interest groups
(ii) Confer with production and support personnel to produce or coordinate production of company marketing collaterals, advertisements and promotions
(iii) Assist to arrange public appearances, lectures, contests, or exhibits for the institute to increase public awareness and to promote goodwill
(iv) Assist with effective communication with the public and with employees where required
(v) Assist in collation of information to update to the website; work closely with IT Analyst to ensure that website is functional, regularly updated with the latest news and breakthroughs; work with web designer on website.

3. Promote a positive public image of the Institute and minimize damage to the institute from negative media reports, scandals and the like
(i) work with NUS OCR/NUHS Comms & Development Office to draft press releases and contact people in the media who might print or broadcast the institute's material
(ii) work with NUS OCR/NUHS Comms & Development Office to arrange press conferences and interviews for management levels & scientific staff
(iii) Prepare and/or edit organizational publications for internal and external audiences, including newsletters, institute's website and annual or performance reports.
(iv) work with NUS OCR/NUHS Comms & Development Office to respond to requests for information from the media or designate another appropriate spokesperson or information source

4. Organise & plan visit programmes for the Institute’s guests (visitors/potential recruits), Scientific Advisory Board, International Review Panel, industry visitors, Governing Board and grantors.

5. Develop corporate gift ideas to improve publicity for the institute

6. Any other duties & responsibilities as assigned by senior management

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of media relations and communications strategy
  • 1 to 2 years of professional experience in public relations or journalism or similar field
  • Skill in multi-tasking and relationship management
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions
  • Software and computer skills necessary to the performance of the above duties and responsibilities
  • Excellent written English required

Laboratory Executive Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI)

Your responsibilities will include:

- Assist the Laboratory Manager in the formulation and implementation of policies necessary to carry out and support common lab operations within the Institute.

- Procurement of service contracts, liaison for maintenance and inventory through GEBIZ.

- Assist Facility Manager in all aspects of work related to labs and support of CSI Safety Committee.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Life Sciences or related field
  • At least 3 to 4 years of lab operations experience
  • Meticulous, good teamwork and communication skills
  • Committed, self-motivated, conscientious and able to work independently
  • Knowledge of mouse work and GEBIZ is an added advantage
