Laboratory Executive (Animal Care Supervisor)

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Primary duties are to manage activities required for the proper care and maintenance of laboratory animals and research facilities
  • Understand and ensure staff follow all regulatory (NACLAR) and related standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
  • Assist in training technicians in routine and specialized husbandry tasks
  • Set and clarify goals for staff, prioritize and coordinate daily work schedules
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with technicians, management, veterinary and research staff
  • Interact with principal investigator staff to resolve any issues related to animal husbandry
  • Proficient problem solving skills
  • Participate in the interviewing and selection process of new hires
  • Conduct corrective measures and performance reviews with technician staff
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • “A” level diploma required. Bachelor degree preferred
  • AALAS certification required. LATg preferred
  • Must have 5-7 years of experience in laboratory animal care, 3 of which are in a supervisory position
  • Must have experience in facilities management, biohazard containment, and data management
  • Experience working with rodents. Experience with other species, such as rabbits, swine and aquatics a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Team player who is willing to accept a changing work environment
  • Lift up to 15kg
  • Basic knowledge of MS outlook, Excel and Word
