Duties & Responsibilities:
- Primary duties are to manage activities required for the proper
care and maintenance of laboratory animals and research facilities
- Understand and ensure staff follow all regulatory (NACLAR) and
related standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- Assist in training technicians in routine and specialized
husbandry tasks
- Set and clarify goals for staff, prioritize and coordinate daily
work schedules
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with technicians,
management, veterinary and research staff
- Interact with principal investigator staff to resolve any issues
related to animal husbandry
- Proficient problem solving skills
- Participate in the interviewing and selection process of new
hires
- Conduct corrective measures and performance reviews with
technician staff
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Requirements:
- “A” level diploma required. Bachelor degree preferred
- AALAS certification required. LATg preferred
- Must have 5-7 years of experience in laboratory animal care, 3
of which are in a supervisory position
- Must have experience in facilities management, biohazard
containment, and data management
- Experience working with rodents. Experience with other species,
such as rabbits, swine and aquatics a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
- Team player who is willing to accept a changing work environment
- Lift up to 15kg
- Basic knowledge of MS outlook, Excel and Word
