Student Achievements
NUS students who raised the University’s banner of excellence around the world
included the following:
PhD engineering student DENG HENG garnered the Best Presentation Award at the
30th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial
Electronics Society, South Korea.
Law undergraduates GITTA JUWITA and
CHNG, MELANIE won the 2004 Asia Cup
International Law Moot Court Competition,
Japan.
Business undergraduates HUSTON,
KIMBERLEY; TAN TOH KEN; CHONG,
CELESTE and TENG PEI YUN won the
2005 Copenhagen Business School Case
Competition, Denmark.
Graduate student LAW, RANDALL won the
Silver in the Young Inventors Awards 2004 which recognises research and innovation
among tertiary students in the Asia Pacific.
The award was accorded to him on the merits
of his development of a laser technique that
can fabricate extremely small patterns of 20
nanometres in size on polymer materials.
Arts and social sciences undergraduate LEE
MING-AN, BENJAMIN clinched the first
prize at the 2nd ASEAN Young Speakers’
Forum, Thailand.
Industrial design undergraduate LEE TZE MING won second prize in the Professional Category
of Intermot Designpreis design competition,
Germany.
PhD real estate student LIU XUAN was
awarded the first dissertation/thesis fellowship
of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy’s China
Programme.
Business students PUA CU, BRIAN MATHEW;
NG KIM YONG; TAN DUN LIN, CHRISTABEL and TAN WEI JIAN, RAYMOND emerged
runners-up at the second Citigroup International
Case Competition held in Hong Kong.
PhD materials science student SUDESH
WIJESHINGHE was amongst 20 students
worldwide who received a travel grant to do
a student poster presentation at the National
Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE)
2004 Conference, New Orleans, US.
Music undergraduate TRAN THI TAM NGOC won third prize at the inaugural ASEAN
International Chopin Piano Competition,
Malaysia.
PhD engineering student YU HONGYU was
presented a Graduate Student Fellowship by the
US-based Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers (IEEE) Electron Devices Society for
academic excellence and contributions to
advanced gate stack research.
