Service to Community and Country

The following NUS staff were some of the many who contributed to all areas of national life serving on national boards and agencies in the review year:

Associate Professor ANH TUAN NUYEN (Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences) was appointed to the Bioethics Advisory Committee.

Associate Professor CHAN WING CHEONG (Faculty of Law) was re-appointed member of the Elder Protection Team, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.

Associate Professor CHAN CHUEN FYE (School of Design & Environment) was reappointed Deputy President of the Strata Title Boards.

Professor HENG CHYE KIANG (School of Design & Environment) served as chairman of the Design Advisory Committee, Urban Renewal Authority.

Assistant Professor LIM SUN SUN (Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences) was appointed member of the National Internet Advisory Committee.

Associate Professor LIM SWEE HUAT, WALTER (Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences) served as member of the ‘A’ Level Syllabus Review Committee, Ministry of Education.

Professor LYE LIN HENG (Faculty of Law) served as member of the Committee on International Environmental Relations, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.

Associate Professor MAK YUEN TEEN (School of Business) was reappointed member of the Council on Corporate Disclosure and Governance, Ministry of Finance.

Dr MUHAMMAD FAISHAL (School of Design & Environment) was appointed member of the Committee on Strengthening Racial Harmony in Schools, Ministry of Education.

Associate Professor PAKIR, ANNE (Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences) served as executive member of the Films Appeal Committee, Media Development Authority; and committee member, Broadcasting Appeals Advisory Committee, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts.

Associate Professor PHUA, STEPHEN (Faculty of Law) was appointed member of the Tax Advisory Group, Ministry of Finance.

Assistant Professor WEE, VALERIE (Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences) served as a member of the Arts Appeal Advisory Committee, Media Development Authority.

Associate Professor WEE HOCK ANN, LIONEL (Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences) served as a committee member of the Speak Good English Movement, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts.

Assistant Professor WONG YUNN CHII (School of Design & Environment) sat as a member on the Singapore History Museum Board.
