Dear NUS community
On 5th September, we will have our annual NUS Day of Service. Even as things will be different this year with the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing, this crisis offers us new opportunities and more avenues to help make lives better.
Amid this disruption, there is a greater need to help uplift our fellow Singaporeans, migrant workers, members of the NUS community and many others. With peoples' livelihoods at risk and normal routines being disrupted, I would like to encourage everyone to not only do something on this year’s Day of Service, but to start something now.
On our 5th year, it would be an opportune time to revisit our fundamentals, our “ABCs” if I may call it such. We have grown tremendously since, but this time, we shall be focusing on the most basic tenets:
- Building Awareness of needs, and recognition of those who are already contributing to the community (and there are many);
- Bridging our NUS community with the many opportunities;
- A call to action for all to Contribute.
It is my firm belief that we can continue to make lives better despite the ongoing crisis, and we look forward to sharing with you more ideas how you can serve the community over the next few months.
Mr Jeremy Ee
