NUS Tuition Fee Allowance

The NUS Tuition Fee Allowance ("Allowance") is awarded by NUS to outstanding graduates for research leading to a higher degree at the University.
Eligibility
Applicants must be university graduates with at least a Class II Honours degree or equivalent and, at the time of award of the Scholarship, must have been offered admission as a candidate for a full-time higher degree by research at NUS.
Award Details (For Singaporean Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents)
The Recipient will be given full tuition fee subsidy for the course of study, i.e. NUS will pay the prevailing applicable tutition fees for the Recipient.
Award Details (For International Students)
There are two options available with regards to tuitiion fee subsidy:
  • Full tuition subsidy is awarded if the Recipient chooses to work in a Singapore-registered company for 3 years upon graduation. Please refer to the Service Obligation Scheme for more details
  • Tuition fee subsidy capped at the fee payable by the students with Service Obligation for those who do not choose to work in Singapore after graduation
Award Period
The Allowance is tenable for an initial 1 year and, subject to the recipient’s satisfactory progress, renewable annually up to a maximum of 1-2.5 years for Masters candidates and 3-4 years for Ph.D. candidates, as determined by the University in each case.
Application Procedure
Applicants will have to indicate their interest in the Scholarship when they submit their application for admission.
Notification of Award
Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their applications sometime in May (for August intake) or October (January intake).
Terms and Conditions
Successful applicants are required to sign a letter of undertaking agreeing to observe the terms and conditions for the award of the Allowance. A copy of the current terms and conditions can be accessed here.
