Professor Ho Teck Hua, who joined NUS on 26 June 2011, assists the Deputy President (Research and Technology) on research strategy matters, including overseeing and building the University's Finance and Risk Management integrative research cluster. He concurrently holds the Tan Chin Tuan Centennial Professorship. Prof Ho has been a consulting professor to the NUS Overseas College in Silicon Valley since 2002.
Prof Ho is currently the William Halford Jr. Family Professor of Marketing, and the Chair of the Marketing Department at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He was the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs from 2004-2006.
He received a B.S. with first-class honours in Electrical Engineering (1985) as well as an M.S. in Computer and Information Sciences (1989) from the National University of Singapore. Additionally, from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, he received an M.A. (1991) and a Ph.D. (1993) in Decision Sciences.
Ho has been a chaired professor at U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business from 2002, and is also the Director of the Asia Business Center at the Haas School of Business from October 2007. Ho earned his tenure at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1999. He was Assistant Professor of Operations and Technology Management at the UCLA Anderson School of Management from 1994-1997.
Prof Ho has published many significant works in refereed journals, in both the areas of economics and marketing. His research interests include experimental and behavioral economics, quantitative marketing models and marketing and production interfaces. He was a 2006 finalist for the John D. C. Little Best Paper Award, and was a 2005 finalist for the Paul Green Best Paper Award. In 2011, he was a finalist for the William F. O'Dell Award. Currently he is the Department Editor of Decision Analysis for Management Science. In addition, he is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, and a Co-Editor for Foundations and Trends in Marketing.
At the Haas School of Business, Ho teaches Pricing Policy to MBA students. He has won the Earl F. Cheit Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2004, 2005, and 2006, and was awarded the prestigious Berkeley Distinguished Teaching Award in 2010.
