Awarded Carnegie Research Scholarship and studied at Leipzig and Tubingen.
Career
circa 1904 Spent several months as an assistant to one of the leading private practitioners in Aberdeenshire
1908 Physiologist and assistant pathologist, Medical School, Singapore
1909-1918 Principal, Medical School, Singapore
Offices held
In 1908, he proceeded to Manila as representative for the Colony at the Philippine Islands Medical Association.
Joined the 1st Volunteer battalion Gordon Highlanders while he was a student.

1912 Surgeon Captain, Singapore Volunteer Corps

Honours
Won a number of class prizes during his University career, including gold medals in surgery, medicine and midwifery.
