"The
Talent Development Programme provides ample opportunities
for students from all the various faculties to interact and
exchange ideas. Activities organised within the framework
of the programme allow students not only to fully realise
their leadership potential but also help them in appreciating
the strengths of their peers. The programme provides a truly
useful platform for developing skills that will accompany
students throughout their careers."

The
TDP in Faculty of Law aims to prepare future leaders of the
profession for the challenges to the profession brought forth
by globalization and advances in information technology. The
programme exposes students to the multi-faceted nature of
legal studies. It challenges them to consider how law shapes
society, and how it, in turn, is shaped by the changes in
society. The programme aims not only to better prepare students
for legal practice, but also to instil in them an appreciation
of the lawyer's responsibility towards society.
The
Enrichment Programmes provide TDP students with a better under-standing
of how Singapore legal institutions operate. They also show
some of the policy impetus behind the changes to the legal
system. Under the Subordinate Courts Internship Programme,
students get the opportunity to interact with judicial officers
of the Subordinate Courts. In the Colloquium with Supreme
Court Judges and Senior Counsel, students hear the views of
these eminent persons on the challenges brought forth by the
internationalisation of legal practice and the future of the
legal practice. In the visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
students obtain a perspective on diplomacy and the practice
of international law. Through these enrichment programmes
students get to expand their perspective on the workings of
the domestic and international legal system.

The
curriculum of TDP students is similarly interesting. In Law,
Business and Public Policy, students get to examine issues
arising at the intersection of these three disciplines. In
the TDP Seminar Series, students have the opportunity to discuss
topical legal issues. To further equip him for life-long learning,
the TDP student does research papers in his areas of interest
- he gets to work closely with a specialist in the areas chosen
by him.
Through
the enrichment programmes and the special modules made available,
TDP students will be exposed to the stimulating discipline
of law in the fullest measure.
