Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric Dentistry or Children's Dentistry provides specialized oral health care service to children aged 1 to 17 years. Clinical services provided in the Dental Centre focus on outpatient service. Every child is prescribed a comprehensive oral health care programme catered to his own needs with the aim of helping the child to attain a clean healthy mouth.

Provision of care includes both restorative and preventive components with emphasis on prevention and early interception of dental diseases and problems. Restorative treatment includes fillings with amalgam and tooth-coloured filling materials, stainless steel crowns, pulp treatment and management of traumatized primary and young permanent teeth. Preventive care is fundamental to achieving good oral health in a child patient. It covers oral health education, fissure sealants and topical fluoride application. In addition, children with developing occlusal problems are identified early for interceptive orthodontic treatment.

For the disabled children and children with behaviour problem, comprehensive oral health care in treatment and behaviour management is available.
