| Introduction
The Endodontic Residency Training Program is a 3-year full-time program designed to provide advanced training in Endodontics, leading to the degree of Master Dental Surgery (Endodontics). Residents enrolled in this program will be trained at the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore and Singapore National Dental Center.
The program comprises of didactic, clinical and research components. Clinical training incorporating state-of-the-art technologies is corroborated with advanced didactic instruction in the principles of Endodontics and the basis for biomedical sciences. An array of features includes laboratory practical, seminars, lectures, literature reviews, multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment planning sessions as well as undergraduate teaching. There may also be an opportunity for a 3-4 weeks attachment at Baylor College of Dentistry in USA for increased educational exposures. Research is an integral part of the program and the resident is required to engage in a clinical or basic science research project. The resident is encouraged to attend conferences (both local and international) and present their research findings, conduct table-clinics, etc. at such meetings.
The main research interest of the Endodontic Residency Training Program is in the understanding and the treatment as well as repair / regeneration of dental structures lost to dental injuries.
The training program commences in May and examinations are conducted at the end of each academic year. Applications for admission are invited in November of the year prior to the year of admission and the closing date is the end of December. When all the materials have been received and evaluated, the applicant may be asked to come for an interview. Letters of acceptance will be sent out in February. |
