The Faculty of Dentistry held its annual awards day on Thursday 29th August at the auditorium. The guest of honor was Prof Ivan Png, Vice-Provost, (Graduate and Undergraduate Education).

Among the invited guests were heads of institutions, parents, donors of medals, corporate sponsors, alumni and friends. Assoc Prof Keson Tan, Dean of Dentistry in his welcome address thanked the many contributions of the academic, non-academic staff and supporters of the faculty in fulfilling the mission of the Faculty.

Two student group research projects under the (UROP) initiative were presented. This was followed by the following presentation of awards
1) UROP winners
2) Staff long service
3) Excellence in Teaching
4) Performance and merit awards to non-academic staff
5) Student medal and Book prizes
6) Dean's List for year 1 to year 4 students and lastly the Dental Society Gold, Silver and Bronze merit award.

For the recent graduates who came back for the ceremony it was a sort of homecoming. They took the opportunity to meet up with staff and students alike. Parents also had the opportunity to mingle with staff.

This annual event is an important one as it recognizes the many contributions of student, staff and supporters of the Faculty. The day ended with a tea reception which was held at the foyer. Here again there was the usual fellowship and exchange of pleasantries.
