The first CFA Chinese Instrumental Examination was conducted in December 2004. Led by Mr Lum Yan Sing, Assistant Director and former Assistant Conductor of the Singapore Chinese
Orchestra, an international Advisory Panel has been formed in CFA to oversee the development and conduct of the examination. The main objectives are:
- To set up an examination system that will be recognized and accepted by academic and fine arts institutions in Singapore and abroad.
- To establish a coherent and consistent set of guidelines for facilitating systematic training of various Chinese musical instruments.
- To promote appreciation and education of Chinese music in Singapore and the region.
