Made up of undergraduate and postgraduate volunteers, this choir sings an average of two services per week during term time in the Anglican tradition. The choir's repertoire is eclectic and ambitious, ranging from plainchant, through Renaissance polyphony, to 20th Century masterworks and new commissions. There are two previous recordings with Priory Records (In the Midst of Life and Songs of Farewell), and in 2007 the choir was featured in a reconstruction of the first performance of John Newton’s hymn Amazing Grace. The choir is directed by Dr Sam Barrett, Director of College Music at Pembroke College.
Enjoy English sacred and secular music, such as Sing Joyfully and Ave Verum Corpus by William Byrd, and works from Choral Folksongs by Gustav Holst like I Love My Love and There Was A Tree. |
