Dr. Yeo Sze Ling is a remarkable graduate of NUS, having had to overcome great odds to obtain her Ph.D. in Mathematics in 2006. Dr. Yeo contracted Glaucoma at the age of 5, which resulted in her vision being limited to light perception. Despite receiving her primary education from the Singapore School for the Visually Handicapped, this did not stop Dr. Yeo from reaching out and striving to achieve her goals. She learned alternative ways to cope with life, which included Braille for reading and writing and surrounding herself with those who would support her. She went on to attend secondary school, junior college and university along with her sighted peers, her determination convincing others that she could achieve her dreams.

Dr. Yeo continues to prove that she can do it and is a research engineer at the Institute for Infocomm Research, a research institute under A*STAR.
