Ms. Porsche Poh is an exceptional individual, who goes where others fear to tread. She has a can do attitude which resulted in her overcoming many obstacles to found Silver Ribbon (Singapore), and to ensure the high profile opening by President S R Nathan. Silver Ribbon is a non-profit international organisation with representation in countries as far flung as the United States, Japan, Mexico, and India. With Porsche as Executive Director, this organisation, strives to combat the stigma of mental illness, to encourage early treatment and to support and advocate on behalf of those who have struggled with mental illness to find a place in society where their stories and talents might shine. She is also a committee member of Action Group for Mental Illness (AGMI).
Porsche remains energetic in her efforts to both learn and educate others about mental illness and in 2006 she was accredited as a Mental Health First Aid instructor by the University of Melbourne. |
